In the ancient world, city walls and gates were common. They were there not only for protection, but also for the city fathers to monitor the comings and going of people. City gates were central to community life and much commerce, business and justice was conducted under the watchful eye of the elders at the gate.

In biblical times, the term “elders at the gate” referred to the older men of a city who were recognized as having authority, leadership, and good judgment on behalf of the city residents. These gate-keepers brought security to an otherwise vulnerable population.

In our nation today, the presence and influence of elder men is waning. Americans are taking their cues from younger trend setters who dismiss tradition and experience as generational differences.  

Elders At The Gate is a ministry of influence. We are men who want to give back by applying a biblical perspective to the issues of life. We desire to encourage younger men to know the Word of God and to live in the ways of God so that their marriages and  families will prosper in the blessing of God.
